These pictures compare the original limited slip differential with an aftermarket Eaton unit for the GM 8.5" rear axle. The original differential is on the left and the Eaton differential is on the right. The aftermarket Eaton unit seems to have thicker walls, smaller openings, and more rounded edges for improved strength relative to the original unit. Also, the clutches in the Eaton differential are loaded by coil springs as opposed to the S-spring in the original differential.
