My Chili Recipe!!! |
|
Here's my chili recipe. Most people love this stuff. Homer Simpson would've picked it as the best. This is even better than the chili made with the Guatemalan Insanity Pepper at the Springfield Chili Cookoff. My recipe is the combination of two coworkers' recipes with my own touch. The following table lists the ingredients I use. |
|
|
ground meat: venison (preferred), turkey, beef, or mix | 1½ lbs. |
olive oil | 3 tbs. |
hungarian wax pepper | 2 |
habanero pepper | 2 or 3 |
cayenne pepper | 3 |
garlic clove | 2 |
onion | 1 |
mushrooms | +6 oz. |
tomato | 2 |
hot sauce (any of the following mild sauces):
Dave's Gourmet Insanity or Total Insanity Blair's Sudden Death or After Death and/or Pure Cap (vegetable oil & capsaicin, 500k Scoville units) |
few dabs, just enough to initiate perspiration and/or running nose, or to enjoy again while going out |
spicy chili beans | 3 cans |
hot chili seasoning (prefer Carroll Shelby's) | 1½ packets |
V8 vegetable juice, spicy | 1½ bottles |
celery | 1 or 2 sticks, optional |
Brown the meat and drain it. Slice up the various vegetables and put everything, listed in the table above, into a 6 qt. pot. Add the ingredients and start cooking. Stir it often. Cover it and put it on low heat. Stir it once in a while. It takes a few hours. This is a whole day project. Cook it until the desirable consistency is reached. I prefer it a little thick as opposed to a soup like consistency. |
